Updates

How the app updates itself and checks versions.

Godot MCP Studio keeps itself current so you always have the latest tools and

fixes.

Automatic updates

The desktop app checks for updates on launch and applies signed updates in the

background. Updates are cryptographically verified before they're installed, so

you only ever run builds we actually published.

What "lifetime" covers

Your license includes all v1.x updates: new tools, new categories, fixes, and

improvements land automatically. "Lifetime" means the v1.x line, not unlimited

future major versions; see the EULA.

The editor addon updates itself

When the app ships a newer addon than the one in your project, it refreshes the

files automatically the next time you open that project. No manual reinstall.

Your project settings and scenes are untouched; only files under

addons/godot_mcp_studio/ change, and only when the bundled version is newer.

Agent rules and skills update independently

The full edition checks its licensed web rule bundle whenever you open a

project. Rules and Godot skills that Godot MCP Studio installed are updated when

the bundle version changes, and new skills are added for the AI clients you

already configured. This does not require a new desktop-app release.

Locally edited files are preserved. The app only replaces a managed file when

its content still matches the version it previously installed. If you are

offline, the current project files stay in place and manual installs use the

embedded fallback.

Release notes

Every release is listed on the changelog with what changed. If an

update is mandatory (for example, a security fix), the app will let you know.
