Godot MCP Studio 1.3.0 Adds Image Studio, Templates, and Expanded Godot Tools

Godot MCP Studio 1.3.0 adds a Pro art workspace called Image Studio, a Pro template library, and a broader set of Godot tools for AI assistants. If you use an MCP client to edit scenes, resources, or UI, this update changes what the assistant can inspect and change without leaving Godot editable workflows.

See Godot MCP Studio for the release details.

Image Studio for game art

Image Studio is a Pro workspace for creating and editing game art locally. You can draw pixel art and raster artwork, import images, and edit selected regions. Selections support rectangular and freehand shapes, with move, nudge, copy, cut, paste, and delete for selected pixels.

Cleanup tools include mask painting, background removal, palette reduction, edge cleanup, and rebuilding artwork on its pixel grid. Drawing, local editing, and pixel grid cleanup do not use generation credits.

For generation, you can request characters, items, weapons, portraits, environments, effects, UI assets, maps, textures, concept art, and illustrated artwork. You set asset type, quality, art style, camera view, background, and seed. The Generate panel offers New image, Edit, Variations, Animate, Tiles, Cut out, Replace, and Extend, with one, two, or four variations and Subtle, Balanced, or Bold changes. You can also match colours to a reference image.

Layers support names, visibility, opacity, blend modes, offsets, and ordering, with flatten to a new frame while keeping sources. The canvas remembers zoom and panel layout, warns before leaving unsaved changes, and opens new artwork with a frame ready to draw on. Saved artwork, masks, frames, and exports stay in a local library.

Animation and tiles

You can build animation clips, reorder and duplicate frames, adjust playback speed, loop playback, and use onion skinning. A selected frame can be updated without duplicating it, and deleting timeline entries can remove unused frame files.

Humanoid rigs support parented bones, IK, angle limits, pose keys, interpolation, and pixel skinning. GIF import creates individual frames and a timeline. Export options include sprite sheets, animated GIFs, PNG frame ZIPs, and Godot SpriteFrames. Tile work includes repetition preview, seamless edge checks, and map placement.

Export: sprite sheet, animated GIF, PNG frame ZIP, Godot SpriteFrames

Credits, approvals, and templates

Pro includes 80 starter generation credits. The app shows operation and credit cost before a job starts, and approved quotes keep their price until expiry. Generation waits for approval unless you enable MCP auto approval within your chosen scope, with per request and session limits. You can pause local AI edits, reject pending requests, and rely on protection for unsaved desktop edits during concurrent agent writes.

Additional credits are sold in 250, 750, 2,000, or 5,000 credit packs. Generated files remain available online for seven days by default, so save results to the local library to keep them.

Templates are a Pro library of reusable Godot systems and addons. Your AI client can search for a relevant template or install one you name, then adapt it in the open project. Each entry lists purpose, Godot compatibility, license, and installed files, with signed file lists and checksums verified before install. Existing files are protected by default.

Expanded Godot tools and updating

The update adds tools for Themes, Curves, Gradients, popup menus, menu bars, option and item lists, dialogs, SpriteFrames, animation tracks and keys, blend trees, TileSets, terrains, visual shaders, and asset reimports. Resources stay editable in Godot. Clients can search the tool catalog and load focused guidance, including updated Godot 4.7 guidance for GDScript typing, scene unique names, resource copies, movement, saves, UI, and audio.

Project Health scans for addon and rules updates, missing resources, import errors, and client configuration problems, with review before repair. To update, update the desktop app, then accept the addon refresh for your selected project when offered.
